Choosing the right lure for your fishing. How, where and why.

If you had to choose one lure for a wide range of fishing types the natural look and feel of a soft plastic is the ultimate go to, especially in a prawn profile.

In the creek chasing Barramundi and Mangrove Jack they can be lightly weighted and skip cast and retrieved with a nice flicking action.

Inshore with a bit more weight in the jig head, bouncing it across a nice rubble or weed bottom is perfect for species like Jew, Fingermark, Grunter, Flathead, Trout and the list goes on.

The Dirty Prawn is one versatile little weapon.

Out in the bay with a long cast and a fast retrieve the pelagic fish climb all over them.
Dolphin fishing, mackerel, trevally, tuna all come in hard and if you Let it drift down and work it you will find the big cobia love a prawn snack. Over the wrecks is a great place to get smoked.

Around the reef flicking it off the bottom with a decent size jig head is a Coral trout magnet with the bycatch being every other reef fish you could hope for.
This works from 10 meters to 60 metres plus where the red emperor and Nannys lurk.

On the reef flats with a lighter jig head you are going to have to tighten your drag and hold on as the fish visibly attack an irresistible prawn that they must have.
