fishing lures or bait?

What's better. Lures or Bait?

Are lures better than bait?

As a professional fisherman I know the value of using quality baits and as a fishing guide I know when and why to change to lures and why they are so popular.

Lure fishing

You have done your research, planned your trip, put in the time casting and then comes that hook up. Indescribable satisfaction. Now to master it.. it’s intoxicating.

Why use lures

Once you do master lure fishing it’s hard to use anything else. I’ve seen it too many times where lures just out fish baits.

You know that it’s ok if the fish aren’t actively feeding if you present the right lure it creates a reaction bite and your own.

There is absolutely no debating the amount of times you can only get a lure to where the fish are and successfully get them out.

It can be as mad as jigging for Pelagic's, or as relaxing as drifting an estuary flicking for flathead.

There are so many styles and options available.

Which is better, lures or bait?

With Lures there is less mess and smell, no need for the extra storage taking up room to keep bait cold.  Not to mention the cost of bait these days.

It is debatable whether bait attracts sharks. Especially the large stuff we use out at the reef but I don’t think it helps.

In the end there are always great times to be had bait fishing and of course I will continue to use it. But I can say that this Professional line fisherman (Dirty Baito)
